Position Summary

Employees in this position perform a variety of facilities and general maintenance work, including cleaning, repair, and maintenance of buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include:

• Addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns
• Basic janitorial, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, painting, and grounds maintenance tasks
• Loading, unloading, moving, stocking, and staging products and materials using sit-down forklifts with attachments (forks, clamps, push-pull), or other power equipment for 80% of the shift
• Operating equipment used in skilled trades, including power and hand tools
• Performing duties such as painting, resetting rack beams, labeling racks, moving office furniture, hanging pictures, wiping down bathrooms, filling battery water, conducting glass audits, inspecting emergency exit lights, changing light fixtures, performing minor dock door repair, and outside trash removal
• Collecting load bars and other assigned tasks
• Assisting the Distribution Safety Coordinator with safety inspections and repairs as required by OSHA
• Applying methods, practices, and procedures in preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, renovation, cleaning, and minor construction of buildings and utilities
• Cleaning sanitation lines
• Making suggestions for improvement in processes, cost reduction, and customer service

Physical Demands

• Works around heavy equipment, electricity, loud noises, flying debris, chemicals, poor ventilation, and moving equipment
• Protective clothing required: Closed-toed or steel-toed shoes may be required
• Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 45% walking, and 40% standing
• Repetitive motion involved on a daily basis may include bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds multiple times during a work shift
