About the role

Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) is seeking a Microbiologist to join our team in Kansas City, MO. This position is responsible for applying Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in all areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess a biological degree with a minimum of 4 credit hours of Microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
• Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Performs basic micro lab techniques/analyses and prepares media/cultures, based on job function
• Contributes to a small team of analysts using bacterial test systems (Total Coliform testing, E. coli testing, Total Plate Counts, and MPNs)
• Aids in writing, reviewing, and editing reports, protocols, and SOPs
• Efficiently carries out procedures necessary to complete each analysis with minimal supervision
• Meticulously maintains precise records of all analyses in accordance with good laboratory practice
• Cultures and enumerates infectious bacterial pathogens using routine microbiological techniques
• Enters data into LIMS computer system
• Maintains/calibrates equipment (incubators, water baths, refrigerators, etc.)
• Prepares and washes glassware
• Verifies receipt of incoming samples and logs them into Lab Management System
• Labels samples and distributes paperwork to Project Managers
• Prepares bottle kits for shipment to clients
• Disposes of spent samples, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures
• Maintains and monitors freezer and cooler temperatures daily
• Cleans and organizes the departments/labs daily
• Maintains and promotes safety and conducts all operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner
• Stocks and supplies inventory daily and assists with inventory of supplies
• Performs splits and composites as needed upon request
• May perform courier duties as necessitated to support lab and client needs
• Monitors and cleans walk-in coolers to facilitate locating samples
• Screens and ships empty coolers back to clients and other Eurofins Laboratories
• Logs all outgoing coolers in order to maintain a detailed inventory of all coolers
• Maintains all company vehicles for sample pickups and deliveries as needed
• Conducts all client interaction in an appropriate and professional manner
• Bottle order prep duties

Requirements

• Department of Transportation (DOT) Certificate may be required for shipping hazardous chemicals within 90 days of date of hire
• Additional client or location licenses or certifications may be required in order to support client and operational needs
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
• Must have a valid US driver’s license without recent incident
• Ability to lift 50lbs

Qualifications

• Basic Minimum Qualifications: DOT Certificate, Biological degree with minimum of 4 credit hours of Microbiology, computers, word processing software and database software, experience with Microbiological Laboratory and testing procedures, general mathematics, basic composition, spelling, grammar, punctuation, strong work ethic, organize work and pay attention to detail, computers and basic office equipment, computerized shipping systems, personal protective equipment, strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills, excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

• Compensation range for informational purposes only, actual base salary may vary based on experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location
