About the Role
Responsible for administration of company policies to warehouse personnel, monitoring and improving productivity, quality, and maintaining cost control methods. Helps lead and control activities of company warehouse personnel and related functions through moderate direction of the shift manager. Ensures shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution activities are performed efficiently. Protects warehouse contents against loss and damage, and retains and reviews specific warehouse documents and reports to ensure established methods and procedures are followed.
This is a 2nd shift position with a start time of 10:00 AM until finish.
Responsibilities
- Supervise warehouse employees in housing product, selecting orders, and preparing for delivery to members in the most efficient manner.
- Ensure productive, timely, and quality shipment and/or receiving of all products for member stores.
- Increase production and effectively utilize the workforce to maximize efficiency and reduce warehouse operating expenses.
- Direct the placement of the workforce responding to changing needs during the shift.
- Hire, train, develop, recognize, and evaluate the performance of all employees on the shift.
- Provide an atmosphere of open and honest communications and a positive working environment.
- Enforce and educate on company safety, sanitation, security, and operational standards.
- Reduce safety risks and minimize exposure by ensuring all safety policies and practices are followed.
- Conduct audits, train employees, make inspections, acknowledge safe practices, manage work-related injuries, and conduct accident investigations.
- Administer disciplinary action per divisional policies and procedures.
- Oversee the resolution of employee complaints or grievances to facilitate proper resolution.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily goals, member needs, safety issues, and problem areas.
- Communicate problem areas, improvements, and operational issues to the Warehouse Manager.
- Ensure state, federal, and company safety, sanitation, and governmental policies, laws, and regulations are maintained and adhered to.
- Work as a team member to meet total job responsibilities, emphasizing cooperation, integrity, tact, and consideration.
- Demonstrate strong planning, communication, and computer skills, with the ability to learn new technology.
- Keep management informed on planning, analysis, work performed, and results; ensure all records are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Requirements
- One to two years of supervisory experience and/or experience working in a grocery warehouse environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Certification for warehouse mobile equipment.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects/tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit and taste or smell.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Occasionally or frequently exposed to extreme cold in coolers or freezers and works with and around warehouse mobile equipment.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
