Warehouse Supervisor (2nd Shift)
About the role
The warehouse supervisor oversees day-to-day operations of the PRIMARY warehouse, including managing staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring efficient receiving and shipping processes, monitoring safety compliance, and coordinating with other departments to optimize warehouse productivity.
This position ensures the safe operation of personnel and equipment, meets all shipping and receiving deadlines, and maintains high inventory accuracy. The supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and direction to warehouse employees while upholding Albanese Confectionery Group (ACG) policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
The role involves overseeing warehouse operations, conducting assessments, and collaborating on a cross-training program with the DC warehouse supervisor. A thorough knowledge of warehouse best practices is required to educate and mentor staff in:
- Receiving and inspection
- Material handling and put-away
- Slotting
- Storage and inventory control
- Picking and packing
- Load consolidation and shipping
- Shipment documentation
- Labor scheduling and planning
The supervisor works across an integrated fulfillment process (customer service, warehousing, transportation, inventory) to execute daily plans and ensure Perfect Order metrics, as defined by the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model. This includes delivering products in the right quantity, condition, time, with correct documentation, and at the right cost.
Responsibilities include majority full pallet picking and put-away (with some partials), scheduling labor and equipment, and synchronizing with outbound transportation to meet pick-up windows and avoid carrier detention charges or compliance penalties.

Working Relationship
- Reports to the Manager, PRIMARY Warehouse
- Communicates regularly with team members across multiple departments
- Meets periodically with other departmental leaders
Responsibilities
- Develop and cross-train staff, including creating user guides and training materials
- Analyze warehouse data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with the Supervisor, DC Warehouse on cross-training initiatives
- Enforce safety regulations, conduct training, and perform inspections
- Investigate and report safety incidents
- Collaborate with management to address operational challenges and develop strategic plans
- Resolve customer inquiries related to shipping and receiving
- Ensure staff follow best-in-class picking procedures, including lot codes and First In First Out (FIFO) or First Expired First Out (FEFO) processes
- Organize, direct, and coordinate all aspects of warehouse operations on designated shifts
- Monitor and report team performance to the Warehouse Manager
- Ensure proper handling of products to minimize damage and preserve quality
- Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and support efficiency improvements
- Monitor and report team performance against company KPIs
- Evenly distribute workloads and track quality and productivity of warehouse employees
- Conduct employee performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Implement and enforce company and warehouse policies and procedures
- Complete system processes as required and ensure all deadlines are met
- Ensure daily checklists are completed and filed
- Promote efficient use of time and equipment
- Enforce plant safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs)
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness
- Monitor equipment, submit work orders for repairs, and recommend safety improvements
- Assist management in problem-solving for operational challenges
- Comply with all company Quality, HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety Standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Detail-oriented with high attention to accuracy
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Forklift operation certification may be required
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain, warehouse management preferred, or 5 years of experience managing a warehouse team of 25 or more. High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
