About the role

As a Reach Truck Lift Operator, you will use a piece of equipment called a Lift to move products within the warehouse. It is designed to work in narrow aisles, allowing operators to reach high shelves while maintaining stability. These lifts are ideal for storing and retrieving goods from elevated storage spaces, offering enhanced maneuverability compared to traditional forklifts. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring products are readily available for various teams within the warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Report to the shipping office at the beginning of each shift for the daily assignment, vehicle inspection sheet, and replenishment discrepancies sheet.
• Inspect assigned lift and complete vehicle inspection sheet.
• Replenish pick slots using the view request screen. If no requests exist, use the manual replenish screen to fill empty or almost empty slots.
• Perform knockdowns for selectors when needed; cut and remove shrink wrap from all knockdowns.
• Maintain correct counts and log any discrepancies in inventory.
• Verify that the correct product is being put in the appropriate pick location.
• Remove all empty pallets from pick locations and aisles. Separate the good, bad, and blue pallets and neatly stage in pallet staging area.
• Park and recharge lift in its appropriate spot at the end of the shift.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must have Stand Up, Reach Truck experience.
• Understanding of safety guidelines and ability to operate the lift in a safe and efficient manner.
• Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems.
• Warehouse/Operations experience preferred but not required.
• System implementation experience is preferred.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and to deal with ordinary, standardized situations.
• Ability to perform basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard, ounce, and pound.

Work Environment

• Onsite role at one of UNFI’s distribution centers or offices.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20°F to 35°F in Perishable Operation and 37°F to 90°F in Grocery Operation.
• Ability to perform repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places.
• Ability to operate work-related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
