About the role
The Warehouse Specialist maintains key department experience and knowledge that require unique skills and training as identified by management. This role involves specific areas of experience and training within the facility such as receiving, production, inventory control, and administration. Warehouse Specialists assist in training employees, conduct observations to ensure SOP adherence, support the roll-out and training of new processes, and help create a culture of continuous improvement while encouraging a team-oriented, safe, and clean working environment.
Responsibilities
- Cross-train in all departments as required, learning multiple jobs in the distribution center to perform various distribution-related functions, allowing assignment across different tasks as business needs dictate.
- Work in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment and interact with leadership and work groups to share information related to immediate tasks.
- Actively contribute to and influence other associates in maintaining a safe, clean work environment and displaying a positive team spirit and attitude.
- Assist in monitoring production and resolving production problems by identifying and locating barriers; escalate difficult problems to the location leadership team.
- Drive the Lean culture within the operation by supporting implementation and contributing ideas for continuous improvement to distribution processes.
- Train new hires and retrain team associates as required, ensuring SOPs are rolled out and training is completed.
- Serve as an effective communicator in the assigned role, assisting in communicating new processes and procedures, and training groups or individuals.
- Train associates on Material Handling Equipment (MHE)/Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including electric pallet jacks and stand-up forklifts (others as needed).
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to conduct research, evaluate labor hours, productivity, and partner with operations leaders and team members on continuous improvements.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse, distribution, or supply chain experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating powered industrial equipment, such as electric pallet jacks and stand-up forklifts.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing using the English language.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems and equipment.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication).
- Knowledge of personal computer (PC) operation.
- Ability to operate power/mobile equipment; may require additional training and/or certification.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds regularly, up to 150 pounds infrequently.
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, and perform fine manipulation of equipment using hands throughout work hours.
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, though infrequently.
- Must be able to perform duties performed by the associates they lead.
- Basic level experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Exhibited good job performance and behavior as measured through indicators such as teamwork, attendance, quality, and productivity.
Skills
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule is a plus (e.g., starting shifts early or staying until work is complete).
Pay
$21.00/hour
