Job Summary
A full-time warehouse specialist is responsible for assisting the production team to safely and properly receive, check, build/produce, stage and load all materials and products so that they are ready for installation on time without issues. This role includes hands-on woodworking — building drawer boxes and panel components to spec — as well as early-morning receiving and truck loading/unloading before the rest of the shop's schedule begins. They also assist with stock/inventory management, organization of all product inventory, cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and workspace in the shop/warehouse.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work for the warehouse team under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and Production Manager to make sure jobs are prepped in priority order and in a timely manner.
- Carefully read, review, and clarify parts lists, cut lists, and contracts in a detailed and thoughtful manner.
- Arrive early to help receive, unload, and stage incoming trucks and deliveries first thing each morning, ahead of the day's production start.
- Receive material/products, checking it against the Bill of Lading & inspecting parts and quality. This includes melamine/wood products/pallets, hardware, accessories, flooring product, general installation supplies and all other deliveries.
- Receive returns of material/products, and organize/re-stock returns using the company's inventory system.
- Build drawer boxes and other components using shop machinery and proper joinery techniques, following spec sheets for size, material, and hardware.
- Unload, inspect, prep and/or build panel and shelving components, cabinets & accessories/hardware for jobs.
- Safely drive the forklift to receive and move palletized jobs on/off racking. Forklift Certification is ideal.
- Care for the warehouse, tools, and equipment to keep everything clean and orderly on a daily basis, i.e. garbage/refuse taken to the dumpster daily, warehouse left orderly and swept/clean on a daily basis.
- Consistently follow processes, track status of work, and raise issues using systems, in a timely and thorough manner.
- Work with the team to stage and load all product and materials for jobs.
- Assist clients picking up product or rolling racks; track and communicate these activities.
- Follow communication protocols such as asking clarifying questions regarding job details, and communicating issues to supervisor and other related departments (procurement, scheduling, design).
- Work safely and mitigate safety risks.
- Consistently show up to work on time for the 6:00 AM start.
- As needed, drop material to glass shop, pick up supplies from box stores, and deliver material to job sites (if cleared to drive).
- Assist in vehicle maintenance activities, i.e. stocking supplies, drop-off/pickup for service.
Qualifications
- This position is a perfect fit for someone whose major strength is to be process and task-oriented, as well as someone with high energy always on the move — and who doesn't mind an early start.
- Prior woodworking, cabinetry, or carpentry experience — including comfort operating shop machinery and hand/power tools — is a strong plus.
- This person should be or will need to be certified to drive a forklift.
- The Person In This Position Must Be Able To Regularly Lift Large Boards and/or Heavy Material ~50-80+ lbs, Keep High Level of Energy and Work Mainly While Standing.
- Maintain a very orderly, clean and organized workspace.
- Safely drive forklift and maneuver large pallets of material without damage.
- Communicate effectively via text, phone, email with multiple team members.
- Complete work tasks in a quality, time efficient manner on a weekly and daily basis.
- Learn and keep up with all product parts (how each works, what they are, how to determine if they are damaged).
Important Skills
- Extreme attention to detail as it relates to contracts, parts list, plan notes, checking material and product against order lists.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong physical skill in safely and efficiently moving pallets of material (energetic/highly physical job).
- Prior warehouse receiving, quality checking, and picking/pulling experience is a plus.
- Construction or woodworking experience with cabinets, drawer boxes, and component parts is a plus.
- Product knowledge and ability to learn quickly how products are installed and work within construction of units is a plus.
Compensation
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
