Warehouse Specialist
About the Role
The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping activities. This role requires hands-on experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment and a demonstrated ability to provide leadership, coordinate workflow, and drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience serving as a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Lead, Lead Associate, or in a similar position with responsibility for directing work, training team members, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring productivity. This individual serves as a key operational leader on the warehouse floor, maintaining safety, quality, and service standards while helping the team meet daily objectives.
Responsibilities
- Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments accurately and efficiently
- Pick, pack, stage, and ship customer orders according to established procedures
- Ensure inventory is properly stored, labeled, and organized within the warehouse
- Perform cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, and operational issues
- Maintain accurate records in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or inventory tracking tools
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and scanners, where certified
- Leadership & Team Coordination
- Coordinate daily workflow and assign priorities to warehouse associates to ensure timely completion of operational goals
- Lead by example in productivity, safety, attendance, and quality standards
- Monitor work output and make real-time adjustments to maintain operational efficiency
- Train, mentor, and onboard new warehouse team members
- Serve as the primary point of contact for floor-level operational issues and escalations
- Help drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity and reduce waste
- Communicate effectively with warehouse management regarding staffing, workflow bottlenecks, and operational needs
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Promote a strong culture of workplace safety and compliance
- Ensure adherence to OSHA guidelines, company policies, and warehouse procedures
- Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards immediately
- Support quality control processes to ensure accurate shipments and inventory integrity
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment utilizing 5S and best-practice warehouse standards
- Other related tasks and responsibilities
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution center, manufacturing, or supply chain environment
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Warehouse Lead, Team Lead, Shift Lead, Supervisor, or similar role with responsibility for directing workflow, coordinating team activities, and influencing operational performance
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate Team Members even without requiring formal supervisory authority
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, RF scanners, or inventory tracking software
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical warehouse duties as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, or related field
- Experience supporting KPI-driven warehouse operations
