About the role
Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides logistics engineering, measurement sciences, program management, and technical support to federal government and commercial clients. The Warehouse Specialist performs warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
Responsibilities
- Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages
- Route materials to prescribed storage locations
- Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods
- Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials
- Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage
- Remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment
- Pack and repack a variety of items such as industrial, electronic, aircraft, and general parts, components, equipment, and printed forms and publications using various packing procedures and techniques
- Prepare documents manually or using automated equipment such as computer terminals and bar code wands to read, store, track, and prepare materials documentation
- Use pallet measuring gauges and automated devices to ensure proper height, weight, and other load and storage requirements are met to prevent damage in storage or transit
- Assist with conducting inventories of material and equipment as required
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License
- Licensed and capable of operating lifting and material handling equipment, including forklifts, hand carts, and pallet jacks
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers
- Ability to frequently lift parts and equipment weighing up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds)
- Current Forklift and Pack Mule license
- May be required to possess a valid truck and trailer license
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and via email
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for most of the day and meeting lifting requirements
- Ability to be trained in the use of warehouse tools and manual material handling equipment
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include previous experience using computers in a military or civilian retail, store, or warehouse environment.
