About the role
The Warehouse Support Specialist provides technical, logistical, and inventory management support to the Georgia Army National Guard (GAARNG) Warehouse and Army Equipment Recovery Distribution Site (ERDS). This position is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, tracking, redistributing, and disposing of military equipment and supplies while maintaining accountability through Army automated systems and established warehouse procedures. The role supports modernization initiatives, equipment fielding, excess property management, and warehouse reconfiguration efforts while ensuring compliance with Army regulations, safety standards, and property accountability requirements.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, store, issue, and transfer government equipment and supplies.
- Manage inventory and maintain accurate property records.
- Support ERDS receipt, turn-in, redistribution, and divestiture activities.
- Use GCSS-Army, SEAM, and authorized systems to process and track inventory.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment safely.
- Record locations, transactions, and disposition data per Army procedures.
- Prepare reports, inventories, and accountability documentation.
- Coordinate shipments and ensure proper routing for fielding, transfer, redistribution, or disposal.
- Support warehouse organization, storage optimization, and reconfiguration.
- Support equipment fielding, modernization, unit conversions, and force structure changes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Army and installation safety requirements.
- Follow procedures for hazardous materials and sensitive equipment, as applicable.
- Assist unit supply personnel with turn-in and accountability actions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse.
- Comply with security, access, OPSEC, and information assurance requirements.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and property accountability procedures.
- Working knowledge of Army logistics processes and supply management practices.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to lift, move, and transport equipment and materials in a warehouse environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet all required safety and training certifications.
- Experience using GCSS-Army, SEAM, ISM, or similar Department of Defense logistics systems.
- Prior military logistics, supply, transportation, or warehouse management experience.
- Current forklift certification.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in inventory management, warehousing, supply operations, logistics support, property accountability, or related military logistics functions.
- Experience managing equipment accountability and inventory transactions.
- Experience receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping supplies or equipment.
- Experience supporting government, military, or commercial warehouse operations preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operate warehouse equipment and vehicles safely.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform warehouse duties throughout the workday.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and warehouse conditions.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workdays do not include Federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed closings. In the event range training is required, hours may shift to accommodate early/late/weekend instruction or range operations.
