Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) to move materials safely and efficiently.
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and chemicals, ensuring proper labeling and documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Identify, document, and report discrepancies, damages, or nonconforming materials to the Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Perform receiving, shipping, and inventory transactions within the ERP system with a high level of accuracy.
- Transfer and deliver materials and chemicals to designated storage areas, production lines, or day tanks following established handling procedures.
- Prepare finished products for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and completing all required shipping documentation.
- Package product for shipment and completes required paperwork.
- Utilize available tools and resources to assist in troubleshooting material flow or inventory issues.
- Follow established guidelines for safe material handling and utilizes proper personal protective equipment (eye protection, safety shoes, respirator etc), adhering to environmental, health & safety standards at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions (work orders, purchase orders, shipment documentation, etc.).
- Ability to interpret SDS's and TDS's.
- Motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment to quality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and familiarity with ERP software.
- Working knowledge of safe material handling and inventory control practices.
- Able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Able to learn new technology.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Be a team player and must work well with others.
- Receptive to learning new skills and able to cross train in other departments.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Vocational Training preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing or a regulated production environment preferred.
- Experience with chemical handling preferred.
- Experience with use of a forklift preferred.
Training
- On-The-Job (OJT) Training and formal training as required, including a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and the opportunity to become a member of the MERT team.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- This is a hands-on role spent on the production floor in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- The role also includes routine computer work, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- The role requires standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended periods, as well as the use of standard office equipment.
- Work involves exposure to chemicals, fumes, noise, and manufacturing materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection, may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks.
- The ability to wear required respiratory protection is an essential function of the role.
- The position may require lifting up to 70 pounds (32 kg), manual dexterity, and the ability to safely operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Occasional extended hours or schedule flexibility may be required to support production.
