About the role
This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for loading, unloading, receiving, and moving freight within the warehouse and loading dock areas. The role ensures freight is properly stored, inspected, and documented while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Review inbound freight documents and unload containers, trucks, trailers, or rail cars.
- Visually inspect, count, and weigh freight; report damages, discrepancies in counts, or weight differences.
- Stage freight in designated warehouse locations and communicate paperwork, exceptions, or special instructions to warehouse or office personnel.
- Load containers, trucks, trailers, or rail cars for outbound transport, ensuring accurate load records are maintained.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet walkers, hand dollies, chain saws, electrical and non-electrical hand tools, shrink wrap machines, and other common tools.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse, tar areas, and equipment while adhering to safety regulations.
- Comply with all safety policies, prioritizing safety in all tasks.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience moving freight in a warehouse environment, including receiving and loading refrigerated and dry freight.
- Experience using warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet walkers, hand dollies, chain saws, electrical and non-electrical hand tools, shrink wrap machines, and other hand-held tools.
- Ability to operate a hand-held scanner.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to follow directions and provide outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
Work Environment
Typical warehouse environment with exposure to seasonal hot and cold temperatures.
Physical Demands
- Constant and repetitive actions involving standing, sitting, stooping, walking, lifting, and reaching.
- Lifting overhead weights of 5–60 pounds during loading and unloading.
- Carrying freight weighing 5–50 pounds for distances of 5–50 feet.
- Pushing and/or pulling weights on pallet jacks up to and exceeding 2,500 pounds.
- Climbing on and off forklifts.
Pay
$22.00 per hour.
