About the role
The purpose of this role is to assist in the warehouse operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company. This is a multifunctional role where the primary nature of this job is to serve as a Warehouse Operator. As a secondary requirement, this position will be expected to provide support to other operational functions to include but not limited to Packaging Operations, Manufacturing Operations, and Facilities Operations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for receipt and dispensing of Raw materials and Packing materials.
- Receiving and storing finished goods and miscellaneous items.
- Ensuring all products are stored in proper conditions, protected against any unnecessary spillage or deterioration.
- Inspecting all materials for damage.
- Dispatching finished goods.
- Cleaning and sanitizing warehouse area.
- Operating, cleaning, and calibrating machinery.
- Verifying and maintaining accurate inventory of all warehouse materials and updating daily logs.
- Checking the approved material before dispensing and generating labels from system.
- Ensuring safe, effective material movement in the warehouse and production areas.
- Loading and offloading trucks using proper equipment.
- Working individually and in collaboration with others as part of a team.
- Helping the QA Department in sampling process as needed.
- Collaborating with other departments to include but not limited to QC, Production, Packaging, and Engineering.
- Executing procedures to complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performing duties through the proper safe use of equipment, according to Health & Safety procedures and Equipment Manuals.
- Performing other related duties assigned.
- Inspect carriers/trailers of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Escorts drivers always when in the facility.
- Receives and unloads freight, checks for damaged goods, verify items and quantities received with BOL, Packing List, PO, etc.
- Moves materials as required for sampling, inspection, status label changes, etc.
- Move materials from Quarantine to Released or Rejected areas as directed by Quality Assurance.
- Picks materials from Released inventory following GMP rules as required per production schedule, pick list, or production record requirement.
- Make the necessary documentation entries.
- Deliver materials to specified locations.
- Load outbound freight as specified in BOL’s after confirming material or production descriptions, lot numbers, count and quantities.
- Performs inventory counts as required.
- Maintains assigned areas in a clean and orderly state.
- Performs minor and spot cleaning as required.
- Verifies documentation and reports for accuracy.
- Complies with all aspects of quality management system, cGMP policies, documentation and record keeping in accordance with industry and FDA standards and Safety and sanitation regulations.
- Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain data.
- Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routes, schedules and requirements.
- Receives incoming materials or prepares material for shipment.
- Un/packs or un/wraps items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc.
- Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications.
- Logs receipt of items on systems, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents.
- Reports materials shipped and bills of lading, and posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations.
- Maintain shipping, receiving, staging, kitting and storage areas that are compliant, efficient, effective and safe.
- Owns inventory accuracy.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An accredited college certificate or university degree is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in warehouse operations preferred.
- Proficiency in the English language (Speaking/Reading/Writing) to understand work instructions and document results.
- Knowledge of fundamental cGMP and regulatory requirements in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical machinery and the operating principles of control systems.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work in both independent and team environments.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including, OSHA.
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to do heavy lifting / bending frequently.
- Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force rarely by utilizing a hand truck to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE is required.
- Individuals may be required to wear respiratory devices that include but are not limited to: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) which include half-face and full-face negative pressure respirators, hooded powered air purifying respirators, or Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), which include hooded or full face supplied air respirators.
