Warehouse Operator, Clerk
About the role
As a Warehouse Clerk at DSV, you will carry out customer service activities in a prompt, courteous, and effective manner. A major responsibility is the timely and accurate handling of customer orders in compliance with all DSV Work Instructions and customer requirements. You will ensure that shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Process all customer orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Generate all related paperwork and necessary information required for customer orders, checking for special requests and shipping paperwork.
- Coordinate special, last-minute shipping requests with the operations department, expediting orders as necessary.
- Prioritize customer orders according to scheduled pick-up time or pier cutoff.
- Furnish shipping and tracking information as required.
- Customer Interfacing Activities
- Maintain a good working relationship with customers by responding to inquiries concerning receipts, shipments, and inventory counts in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Report customer feedback to management, including any signs of customer dissatisfaction.
- Clerical
- Oversee all paperwork associated with orders and maintain corresponding files.
- Maintain a current and accurate DSV Work Instructions Manual detailing processing requirements.
- Answer phone calls and operate various types of office machines and computers necessary to perform duties.
- Data Entry
- Operate the computer terminal proficiently.
- Enter and verify data regarding customer orders, shipments, receipts, and adjustments accurately and timely.
- Documentation
- Ensure the accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents.
- Gather and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Collect all documentation for inbound freight and route to the proper record-keeping unit.
- Comply with all DSV Work Instructions.
- Quality Control
- Verify that products and orders meet quality standards, including reporting any damages or discrepancies.
- Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products as defined by Standard Operating Procedures.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
- Execute all safety protocols and accomplish job tasks in a manner that promotes safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility and work area.
- Assist in the security of the warehouse.
- Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS Standards.
- Other Duties
- Perform other clerical duties, including backup support as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse (mild to moderate during warmer and colder months).
Skills
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of computerized applications (Microsoft Suites).
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience, including handling phone calls and operating office equipment.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally: Bending.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 11-20 pounds.
- Ability to reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
