Role Overview
The Warehouse Manager I is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operations of the assigned warehouse, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, and property accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage government and company property, conduct annual inventories, and coordinate property reports.
- Supervise warehouse staff, including part-time and student workers, ensuring proper training and safety compliance.
- Plan and execute inbound and outbound shipments, track deliveries, and ensure proper inspection and storage of equipment.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure OSHA safety standards are met.
- Collaborate with external vendors, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to facilitate timely shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reports, support audits, and assist in property disposition requests.
- Train staff on compliance procedures and share knowledge across facilities to improve logistics processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- A high school diploma or GED, with at least six years of warehouse and inventory management experience, including staff supervision.
- Strong knowledge of inventory tools, shipping software, and international trade regulations.
- Certifications in hazardous materials, OSHA, or lift truck operation are preferred.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret shipping and customs documentation accurately and apply regulatory updates.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, work in varying environments, and operate warehouse equipment safely.
Additional Details
This full-time, exempt role reports to the Engineering Manager III, Facilities Operations, and is based in Socorro, NM, with a planned transition to Albuquerque, NM. Up to 30% travel required; compensation ranges from $74,000 to $90,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, 403(b) plan, life insurance, PTO, and paid holidays.
