About the role
Quality Custom Distribution Services LLC (QCD), a subsidiary of GSF, is a custom last-mile distribution company specializing in tailored solutions for selected food service industry customers. Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, QCD services thousands of restaurants throughout the United States. Providing over 37,000 deliveries a week from 25 strategically located distribution centers, the QCD fleet averages more than 40 million miles driven per year. QCD associates also help run a national non-profit, the GSF Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Plans, implements and monitors the day-to-day operations for the DC's warehousing function, including analyzing operating data and reports, determining manpower needs and monitoring adherence to standards to ensure business plan objectives are met or exceeded.
- Manages assigned staff, including involvement in the recruitment and selection process of new employees, assigning work, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and building a motivated, effective team to ensure that organizational goals for diversity, career development, productivity, performance management and employee involvement are met.
- Periodically audits operational procedures and programs related to shipping and receiving and implements necessary improvements to achieve expectations for availability, storage, sanitation and security of inventory.
- Develops, audits and controls department budget and ensures that operational costs are within plan. Manages the purchase and/or leasing and maintenance of all material handling equipment to achieve safety, longevity and efficiency objectives.
- Ensures compliance with all customer, governmental and Company directives and policies and ensures the preparation and distribution of all relevant reports and quality analyses summaries.
- Communicates with Division management and employees and provides relevant reports and analyses to ensure appropriate decision-making. Conducts analyses on special project assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field from an accredited university or college or equivalent work history and experience.
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience in warehousing operations involving multi-temperature environment with receiving, inventory control and shipping and 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Food service experience a plus.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of storage and shipment of food or allied products.
- Computerized inventory control systems.
- Warehouse racking systems/processes.
- Management/supervisory concepts and techniques.
- Project management concepts and techniques.
- Relevant safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Regulatory policies and procedures, including OSHA, AIB, HACCP, and DOT.
- Forklift and palletjacks.
- Budgetary concepts and procedures.
- PC word processing/spreadsheet software.
- AS400 computer system.
Skills
- To serve as a team member, facilitator and/or leader as the team role warrants.
- To lead a diverse workforce of approximately 50 employees in a 24 hour/7 day per week operation.
- To manage and motivate employees in a team-based environment.
- To interpret warehouse operations anomalies and identify appropriate solutions.
- To prepare a variety of comprehensive administrative and technical documents and reports.
- To assist in developing capital improvement cost/benefit analyses and subsequent forms.
- To use various logistics and analytical PC-based software programs.
- To work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service.
- To travel via airplane and drive an automobile.
- To act in accordance with GSF’s Values and Creed.
