Summary of role
The Warehouse and Logistics Technician supports results in a fast-paced environment by managing material handling, shipping and receiving, and warehouse operations, while ensuring proper documentation and data entry.Essential Functions
- Proficient in receiving and documenting all incoming shipments, entering and ensuring timely document recording and data entry into software.
- Create and complete Sterling receiving documentation and internal labelling requirements.
- Utilize SDS sheets to safely handle and store chemicals.
- Process and resolve receiving and invoice inquiries.
- Receive and deliver letters and packages to various recipients.
- Responsible for all material handling: reserve and stage materials, pull items based on FIFO and FEFO principles, prepare documents for outgoing shipments, clean storage areas, conduct physical inventory, and perform safety inspections.
- Maintain an orderly system for chemical storage using FIFO methods and segregation rules, and manage KanBan areas.
- Clean storage rooms as required and ensure a clean work environment.
- Operate forklifts, pallet-jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Complete routine safety inspections of equipment according to department procedures.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and ensure compliance with cGMP and other relevant company training requirements.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse or Inventory management experience, preferably in a chemical environment with handling of dangerous goods shipments.
Travel Requirement
Up to 5% travel required.Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly stand, bend, sit, walk, crawl, stoop, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and move drums or pallets of up to 2400 pounds with the use of a drum truck, pallet jack, or forklift.
- Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, and observe color changes.
- Moderate to noisy noise level, exposure to airborne particles and fumes, and exposure to various chemicals.
- Must be able to wear basic PPE as required.
