The Warehouse Lead acts as a coach and leader of warehouse associates, responsible for training teammates to fulfill their daily tasks while also completing their own. Responsibilities vary by department and may include shipping/receiving, packaging, inventory control, general warehouse functions, or operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts). The Lead provides backup support to the supervisor as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Train new warehouse associates and forklift drivers, including conducting Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and annual recertification training.
  • Conduct EIP, performance, and maintenance observations.
  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., clamp/slip sheet equipment) to move products or materials for distribution; load, unload, and store materials/products in designated areas.
  • Complete applicable paperwork (e.g., shipping/tracking labels) per standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, IATA, IMDG).
  • Participate in inventory/cycle count activities and report variances to leadership.
  • Perform daily safety inspections on forklift trucks using the Safety Checklist.
  • Ensure the facility is inspection-ready at all times for SQFI, FDA, and customer needs.
  • Communicate and report any incidents to the supervisor.
  • Ensure product rotation procedures are followed.
  • Review and analyze daily production reports.
  • Serve as backup to other warehouse roles as needed.
  • Additional duties may apply depending on the specific department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior warehouse/distribution operations experience.
  • 6 months of experience in leadership, supervision, or related training in a distribution environment.
  • Must be a licensed forklift operator or able to obtain a Forklift Operator license.
