About the role
The Inventory Control team is responsible for tracking all inventory within our distribution centers. This includes maintaining accurate records, researching discrepancies, understanding warehouse layout, and ensuring proper product location. The role involves researching damages or adjustments, tracking expiration dates, and alerting management of potential safety concerns. You will handle damaged or spoiled merchandise, process salvaged product, analyze inventory reports, and collaborate with various departments to provide recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Track and maintain SOX compliance relative to 3rd Party audit & Company standards
- Schedule and coordinate all physical inventories and cycle counts, including date checks
- Prepare physical inventory recaps on a timely basis for distribution to management
- Review and develop inventory control procedures as appropriate
- Identify and resolve all internal shrink problems
- Monitor, process, and analyze daily reports for inventory control
- Perform basic slotting functions as needed
- Research mis-slots and quality issues, verify pick slots, and back stock verification
- Monitor and process store returns, driver check-in process, and salvage programs
- Process return to vendor requests in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Collect and relocate merchandise as necessary to correct inventory problems
- Provide guidance regarding damages and returns for products that can be sold to salvage dealers
- Build stable, secure pallets with pulled product and label with pallet number tag
- Pull any product to be salvaged as directed by buying department, IC, or chargeback
- Make accurate inventory adjustments in the system
- Review, receive, and respond to written and verbal communication
- Safe operation of powered equipment
- Perform other relevant job duties as required
Requirements
- Capability operating powered industrial equipment
- Understanding of Safety guidelines
- Strong knowledge of applicable Bakco functions and RF systems
- Understanding of all paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory
- Understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a global understanding of processes
- Strong communication skills; both written and oral
- Strong interpersonal skills; must be motivated and take initiative
- Ability to be detail-oriented and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to lift between 40-60 pounds daily and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from -20°F to 35°F in Perishable Operation and 37°F to 90°F in Grocery Operation
- Ability to perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements for maintenance and service procedures
- Manual dexterity, coordination, and balance to work at ground level and in high places
- Ability to operate work-related equipment
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Moving about the distribution center warehouse floor
- Good judgment, as direct supervision may not always be available

Pay
UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual pay will depend on factors including education, experience, training, and requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
