Warehouse Helper

About the role

Warehouse Helper Sterling Personnel Inc is looking for a warehouse helper for our client in the Houston, Tx area. The Warehouse Associate supports daily warehouse operations by receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, and equipment, while also managing shipping and receiving tasks. This role ensures accurate inventory control, verifies incoming and outgoing shipments, and prepares orders for delivery in a timely and efficient manner. Location: Houston, Tx 77012.

Responsibilities

• Perform multiple tasks efficiently under time constraints while maintaining safety, quality, and professionalism.
• Must be able to work weekends if needed.
• Report to work on time and follow assigned schedules based on operational needs.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and adhere to company uniform and safety requirements.
• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, customers, vendors, and regulatory representatives.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, DOT, USCG).
• Read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, and requisitions to determine material handling needs.
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against invoices and purchase orders; report discrepancies or damages.
• Store materials in designated locations based on established inventory systems.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment or customer pickup.
• Prepare shipping documentation and ensure proper labeling and packaging.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
• Assist with purchase requisitions and order processing.
• Participate in training programs and assist in training other warehouse staff.
• Remain available for on-call duties and respond promptly when required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be able to pass background check and drug screening
• 2-4 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, or related experience preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, shipping documents, and correspondence
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong communication skills for interacting with coworkers, vendors, and customers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic computer systems
• Valid driver’s license required

Pay

$16-$18 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, with 5 hours of overtime weekly
