Warehouse Forklift Operator - Lakeland Refrigerated

About the role

Simply put, our Warehouse Forklift Operators are masters of skillfully maneuvering industrial powered equipment. Join the team and use your skills to help Publix Distribution maintain a smooth, safe, and orderly process when moving product within Publix’s warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver powered industrial equipment to move cases and pallets and put them into their assigned slots in the warehouse.
• Move product from the receiving dock to reserve locations.
• Replenish pick locations emptied by Warehouse Selectors, pulling product from reserve locations.
• Rotate inventory using the most dated inventory first.
• Help maintain a clean warehouse and sweep out empty slots.
• Frequently fill in for Warehouse Selectors and other positions as business needs demand.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.
• Successfully complete a Work Attitude Survey.
• Obtain certification in pallet truck and forklift operations (on or before start date).
• Able to lift a minimum of 67 pounds (85 pounds in Boxed Meat/Dairy Warehouse).
• Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Able to bend, stoop, and twist.
• Able to operate a pallet truck or forklift without any part of his or her body exposed outside of the operator compartment.
• Able to stack product of varying weights.
• Able to work under strict time requirements.
• Able to read, write, and identify and verify numbers.
• Able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.

Additional Information

• Department Work Environment:
  • Boxed Meat/Dairy Warehouse: Temperatures could range from 28 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period of time.
  • Frozen Food Warehouse: Temperatures could range from 20 degrees below to zero for an extended period of time.
  • Produce Warehouse: Temperatures could range from 35 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period of time; also involves working in a wet environment.
