Warehouse Forklift Operator

Responsibilities

• Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times; follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
• Operates powered industrial trucks to pull pallets from the outgoing conveyor line and transport inventory to the warehouse.
• Operates powered industrial trucks to transport inventory and load tractor trailers for shipment.
• Transports inventory in the warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
• Understands daily production schedule and corresponds with management, leads, and coworkers accordingly.
• Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality.
• Ensures dunnage (e.g., pallets, slip sheets, top frames) are available in the outgoing area.
• Transfers HFI’d pallets to proper storage locations.
• Monitors equipment, processes, or schedules, and reports problems to supervisor.
• Follows all SOPs and communicates with proper personnel regarding concerns or issues.
• Assists QA in locating pallets for sampling.
• Keeps equipment and all areas safe, clean, and organized through proper housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• 2-3 years of previous forklift manufacturing/production experience.
• Must be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
• Must be Crown certified to operate powered industrial trucks.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to climb or balance.
• Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Works in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
• Exposure to a wide range of temperatures, especially in summer and winter months.
• Frequently loud noise levels.
