Warehouse Driver

About the role

Performs transportation, loading, unloading, and moving of materials from warehouse storage facilities to Company job site while following appropriate safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials and ensure timely deliveries
• Perform shipping and receiving tasks
• Pick up, pack, process, stock, and re-shelve materials
• Conduct preventative maintenance and daily audits of vehicles and equipment to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Receive, archive, and maintain property control records
• Coordinate activities of assigned employees
• Review shipping schedules, job orders, and requisitions to determine materials to be moved, gathered, and distributed
• Pull and prepare materials for shipping, load onto trucks, and verify order accuracy
• Manually handle materials by loading and unloading onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves
• Use material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, hoist) as necessary
• Load materials, install strapping, bracing, and padding to prevent shifting or damage, and ensure correct distribution to designated project locations
• Coordinate delivery activities with employees to meet company objectives and work schedules
• Record amounts of materials delivered and/or distributed
• Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance/repair logs, timesheets, vehicle logs, progress reports, and DOT requirements
• Use computer systems to track products, part numbers, quantities, locations, and notes
• Purchase tools, repair parts, and construction equipment supplies as directed

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to perform preventative vehicle inspections (oil, coolant, brake fluid, washer levels, signals, lights, etc.)
• Ability to read maps and navigate roads and streets of assigned area
• Ability to handle material, warehouse, shipping/receiving, and storage/stockroom tasks
• Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods
• Ability to lift loads up to 51 lbs
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Ability to climb and use ladders and scaffolding of all types for extended periods
• Good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)
• Ability to move between parking areas and construction sites and access all levels of buildings/structures, including via OSHA-approved site ladders or stairs
• Ability to work while constantly moving
• Ability to reach, stretch, and position equipment while maintaining balance
• Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and operating power equipment
• Ability to discern color-coded wiring
• Physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits

Education

• High School graduate or equivalent experience

Experience

• Two or more years of driving experience

Working Conditions

• May require working in all weather elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of year
• Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets)
• Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.)
• Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime on short notice
• Must be able to work in noisy environments
• Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations
• Must work well with others as a member of a team
