About the Role

NAPA Auto Parts is seeking a skilled and energetic Warehouse Equipment Operator to join our growing team. This role involves a variety of tasks including receiving, replenishing, picking, and loading product.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using power equipment.
  • Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Perform daily inspections on assigned equipment.
  • Receiving/Putaway: Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations; efficiently stack and store product in appropriate areas.
  • Order Picking: Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipment-ready.
  • Loading: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers or containers.
  • Operate all equipment (Reach Truck, Order Selector, Double Walkie Rider, Forklift) safely and efficiently, following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards. Some equipment reaches up to 55 feet in the air.
  • Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report quality variances as needed.
  • Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories and ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area; assist in maintaining warehouse security; comply with OSHA and other applicable standards; report issues and problems to management.
  • Support and abide by the company’s safety program and all safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Meet job standards, which may evolve with changes in equipment, materials, or procedures to allow for improvements or additional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • 6 months of prior work experience is a plus.
  • 6 months of prior Powered Industrial Equipment experience preferred.
  • Able to speak clearly and listen attentively.
  • Capable of recognizing and distinguishing letters and numbers (both visually and orally) and remembering their sequence.
  • Good basic math skills and the ability to identify both numeric and alphanumeric sequences accurately and rapidly for placing product in proper locations.
  • Basic computer usage skills.
  • Stamina to stand and walk for the entire work shift.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects typically weighing 25 to 50 pounds or more.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Capability to push and pull carts, pallet jacks, or other equipment loaded with materials over extended distances or up ramps.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift.
  • Bending and Stooping: Capacity to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to retrieve items from shelves, bins, or storage racks at various heights and angles.
  • Climbing: Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access elevated storage areas, including open floor mezzanines, while following safety protocols.
  • Operating Equipment: Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers; must pass certification or training programs for safe operation.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle small objects, operate machinery controls, and perform tasks requiring precision and accuracy.
  • Repetitive Motion: Ability to perform repetitive tasks (e.g., scanning barcodes, sorting items, packaging products) safely throughout the shift.
  • Physical Endurance: Stamina and endurance to work in a fast-paced environment, meet productivity targets, and work long hours, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.
  • Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols to prevent workplace accidents and injuries; vigilance about potential hazards in the warehouse environment.
