Warehouse/ Backup CDL B Driver
About the role
Airgas is hiring for a Production Operator / CDL A Driver in Theodore, AL. This is a home daily position with a reliable Monday-Friday schedule starting at 6:30 AM, with occasional weekend support.
Responsibilities
- Assist in moving industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and supporting the loading/unloading of cylinders from delivery trucks.
- Represent Airgas as a representative of Airgas, responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers.
- Using a company-provided CDL B truck, help bridge the gap between our plant and our valued customers.
- Focus on the loading, unloading, and delivery of cylinders while fostering positive interactions with Airgas customers.
- Safeguard deliveries by ensuring they are made in a timely manner.
- Secure and unstrap cylinders for transport and use a hand cart to make deliveries on customer property sites.
- This role involves a physically active routine, keeping you moving throughout the day.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements.
- Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
- No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
- No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
- Able to work in a drug-free environment.
- Able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
- One year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.
