Gold Star Foods is the leading food distributor to K-12 schools in the United States. We are a company devoted to providing our customers with incredible customer service and are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Warehouse Backhaul Coordinator to support transportation operations.
About the role
The Warehouse Backhaul Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the efficiency of transportation operations by coordinating backhaul activities and logistics scheduling. This role ensures that all inbound and outbound transportation activities are communicated clearly and executed smoothly to maximize operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Communicate key information to the proper recipients to support backhaul and transportation operations, including:
- Arrival times of backhauls
- Daily dispatch information
- Backhaul scheduling/rescheduling
- Service updates to Omnitracs Reporting
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV abnormalities or delivery issues
- Assist with scheduling all pick-up appointments for backhaul orders and vendors for the division.
- Complete all required backhaul paperwork and communicate related logistics information as needed.
- Provide end-of-day backhaul recaps to the Transportation Manager.
- Track loads and provide status updates throughout the day to ensure on-time delivery and pick-up.
- Maintain accurate records of all scheduled appointments, shipments, and backhaul activities.
- Partner with warehouse and transportation teams to resolve scheduling conflicts or delivery issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the warehouse manager or other supervisors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in warehouse receiving or logistics coordination, preferably in the food industry.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with warehouse management systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be open to work overtime when needed.
- Willing and able to learn new procedures and adapt to change.
- Ability to operate multiple MHE: Forklift/Order Picker/Pallet Jack.
- Ability to self-manage daily work.
- Willingness to work in extreme cold environments for prolonged periods of time (Cold Weather Gear Provided by Company).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task, while planning the time, method, manner and/or performance sequence of own work.
- Strong math skills.
- Ability and willingness to complete some moderately repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Indoor/cooler office environment.
- Exposure to room temperature, freezer temperature, lighting, and traditional office equipment.
- The work environment can be noisy due to the movement of equipment and vehicles in the yard/warehouse.
- Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed.
- May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.
- Proper lifting techniques are required; may include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion.
