Responsibilities

  • Pipe Yard (majority of responsibility)
  • - Receiving pipe and conduit
  • - Preparing pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders
  • - Reading production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • - Marks materials with identifying information
  • - Opens bales, crates, and other containers
  • - Verifies and records amounts of materials or items received or distributed
  • - Drives equipment to transport items within the warehouse
  • - Uses computer to enter records
  • - Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications
  • - Picking
  • - Sorts and places material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code
  • - Sorts and stores stocked goods in warehouse
  • - Marks materials with identifying information
  • - Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards
  • - Packing
  • - Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • - Verifies the product that has been picked and documents discrepancies on an error log and has correct product re-picked
  • - Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications
  • - Loading
  • - Consolidates freight for shipping
  • - Loads trucks for delivery to customers
  • - Routing
  • - Facilitates and distributes shipping tickets
  • - Verifies shipping method
  • - Manages delayed release tickets
  • - Communicates oversize loads to freight carriers
  • - Inspects and maintains printing equipment
  • - Ensures shipping routes are maintained

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience:
  • - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
  • - Three months or more related experience and/or training; or
  • - Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous forklift/cherry picker experience
  • Basic safety knowledge (i.e., proper lifting techniques, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands.
  • Continuous mental and visual alertness to maintain safety and achieve accuracy.
  • Requires flexibility and mobility in body movements.
  • Occasionally, it may be required to lift items greater than 75 lbs. with assistance.
