About the role

Part-time seasonal warehouse associates help build book fairs for schools. Positions are available during peak school-year periods (Monday–Friday) and typically off during summer and winter school breaks.

Schedule

  • 7 AM – 11 AM, 4-hour shifts
  • Flexible hours

Responsibilities

  • Pack metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non-book product according to corporate process and procedure, meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in packing all components and sub-components for cases, boxes, and displays.
  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, or quality standards.
  • Ensure outbound cases, boxes, and displays are clean, safe, and in good condition.
  • Unpack returned book fairs according to corporate process and procedure.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure proper packing of book fairs.
  • Learn and demonstrate basic scanner proficiency (item inquiries, replenishment requests).
  • Assist in picking and packing customer reorders.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Perform seasonal inventory production-line resets individually and with co-workers.
  • Learn and demonstrate proficiency in Fair Finishing and Assembly functions, including Quality Assurance scanning.
  • Participate in physical inventory functions, including counting inventory.
  • Assist in Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale Events.
  • Handle all merchandise carefully at all times.
  • Properly utilize warehouse equipment and tools to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or injuries immediately.
  • Use proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects, climbing ladders, and pushing/pulling display cases.
  • Accurately and timely complete Labor Data Collection Cards according to company standards.
  • Operate motorized pallet jacks upon successful completion of the SBF power equipment training program.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by assigned work schedule.
  • Maintain courteous and positive relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Comply with drug and alcohol-free policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
  • Strong team player with the ability to get along with co-workers.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English (safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals).

Physical Demands

  • Lift boxes up to 50 lbs occasionally on a daily basis.
  • Lift boxes up to 30 lbs to a height of 70” occasionally on a daily basis.
  • Push wheeled cases weighing in excess of 300 lbs, with an initial force of up to 50 lbs and sustained force of up to 30 lbs.
  • Stand, reach above and below shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary.
  • Tolerate work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • Accurately follow specific instructions for multiple detailed assembly processes.
  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally sit and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
