Responsibilities

  • Loads, unloads, sorts, picks, stocks, stages, and transports materials throughout the warehouse and yard.
  • Packages items for shipment or customer pickup using appropriate protective methods.
  • Verifies product accuracy and condition before staging or shipping.
  • Installs protective devices to prevent damage during transport.
  • Operates forklifts or other material handling equipment to move goods safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Affords assistance to customers, installers, or subcontractors by fulfilling orders or locating materials.
  • Makes occasional deliveries or pickups using company vehicles.

Key Accountabilities

  • Selects correct processes from clearly defined rules, past practices, or instructions.
  • Sets up deviations from the norm with supervisor approval.
  • Works independently under close supervision, exercising limited discretion and independent judgment.

Work Environment

Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes. Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for periods up to 60 minutes, and perform repetitive movements like using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting. Overnight travel is required less than 10% of the time.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Basic understanding of shipping, receiving, and material handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
