Warehouse Associate - Distribution Center - Greenwood, SC (FUJ DC)
About the Role
GreenWood, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Associate for a Shipping & Receiving role. The associate ensures accurate and timely transactions by following department processes and procedures to safely operate equipment while handling material within a warehouse or storage facility, maintaining compliance with quality, productivity, safety, and security standards.
Responsibilities
- Performs material handling duties and picks tickets to correctly pick and load orders.
- Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, conveyors, or handling equipment to move material to and from delivery transportation vehicles and within the warehouse or storage facility.
- Ensures duties are performed per documented work instructions to meet customer requirements.
- Identifies potential hazards in the workplace and takes action to eliminate or minimize risks, including communicating product availability issues to management.
- Promotes safety awareness and immediately reports any unsafe acts, conditions, or equipment in the facility.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, completing housekeeping duties as required.
- Uses proper and appropriate forklift practices to safely, accurately, and efficiently unload material from trailers.
- Inspects pallets for proper packaging, stacking, and labeling according to specifications; removes trash, damaged pallets, and cardboard from production areas as needed.
- Transitions flexibly in daily work schedules and areas as needed.
- Collaborates with other warehouse employees to ensure positive team relations.
- Provides input to the Warehouse Coordinator to develop and implement operational procedures.
- Performs daily forklift inspections per required criteria.
- Maintains functional knowledge of Bills of Lading (BOLs) and receiving processes.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
- Performs responsibilities accurately with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after all processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 6 months of experience using material handling equipment and driving a forklift in a warehouse function; greater than one year of experience in a material handling role with forklift experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the material handling field required; extensive knowledge/experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on instructions and safety.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic with proven ability to support a positive team environment.
- Ability to complete necessary training and follow safety policies, procedures, and processes.
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work and sense of urgency.
- Ability to further develop computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite, email, and necessary reports.
- Ability to hold self accountable for areas of responsibility and actions.
- Willingness and desire to perform responsibilities accurately and efficiently with a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization in various areas of responsibility.
- Ability to successfully obtain a forklift certification (both written and practical tests).
- Ability and willingness to cross-train in other areas for backup coverage as needed.
