Essential Functions

  • Riding the sweeper to sweep warehouse floors.
  • General cleaning/housekeeping duties.
  • Off-loading and packaging lumber.
  • Safely operate forklift and other machinery.
  • Band, wrap, tape product.
  • Maintain work area and be organized.
  • Identify and read tickets, SKUs, UPC labels and reports.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy - be able to stand and work on your feet throughout shift as normal routine.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, reach, twist, squat, push, pull, move, and lift to 50lbs.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Work in a team environment.

Environmental Job Requirements

  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the Warehouse, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing uneven walking surfaces.
  • Warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy.
  • Fluctuations of temperature are common (below freezing to 100+).
  • Some outdoor exposure during the workday.
  • Wet floors may occur during rainy or snowy weather or at other times depending on what has transpired in the environment (i.e. cleaning of floors…)

Required Credentials

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year warehouse distribution experience.
  • Prior lumber experience desired.
  • Engineered Lumber experience is preferred.
  • Forklift experience and forklift certification preferred but not required.
  • Must have basic math and analytical skills.
  • Team Lead/Shift supervisor experience is preferred.
  • Self-starter, pro-active and able to take initiative.

About the Role

U.S. LUMBER, an SBP company, is currently seeking a Warehouse Associate to assist with various tasks in their Smithfield, NC warehouse. The position involves cleaning, loading, unloading, sorting, staging, transporting, and handling products. Responsibilities include operating forklifts and other machinery, banding, wrapping, and taping products. The role requires teamwork, adherence to safety protocols, and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of warehouse distribution experience is necessary, with prior lumber experience and forklift certification being desirable but not mandatory. Basic math and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Skills
