About the role
The Forklift Operator at QXO, Inc. is responsible for safely and efficiently managing the movement and handling of building materials in a warehouse and yard setting. This role supports various operations including customer deliveries, inbound receiving, customer pickups, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage building materials throughout the warehouse and yard
- Transport materials between storage locations, staging areas, customer pickup areas, and delivery loading zones
- Inspect loads and materials for damage or discrepancies and report concerns promptly
- Support delivery load preparation, receiving, and customer pickups
- Afford inventory support by assisting with inventory counts, audits, and maintaining organized storage areas
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous forklift or material-handling experience
- Previous experience in warehouse, distribution, yard, or similar operational environments
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Current forklift certification preferred
- Strong commitment to safe forklift and material-handling practices
- Strong attention to detail and order accuracy
- Basic math and inventory-counting skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous forklift or material-handling experience
- Previous experience in warehouse, distribution, yard, or similar operational environments
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Current forklift certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of interior building materials, including drywall, metal framing, acoustical products, and related materials
- Previous logistics, shipping, receiving, or inventory experience
- Familiarity with local delivery operations and surrounding service areas
- Previous commercial driving or delivery experience is a plus
- Experience assisting with physical inventories or cycle counts is preferred

Work Environment and Requirements
- Work primarily in warehouse, yard, loading, receiving, and outdoor operational environments
- Frequent operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, push, pull, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Frequent exposure to trucks, forklifts, building materials, dust, noise, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures
- Required PPE must be worn in designated operational areas
- Early morning start times, extended hours, overtime, and occasional weekend work may be required based on delivery volume and business needs
What You'll Earn
The starting salary range for this position is USD $25.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr., with actual offers dependent on factors such as location, experience, skills, and market data. This position may also offer variable compensation. Please note that health care benefits, 401(k) with employer match, and paid time off are standard company benefits.
