About the Role
Rexel USA is one of the largest distributors of electrical products, data communication, wireless communication, and related supplies in the United States. We are looking for a Warehouse Associate to join our Platt team in Portland, OR. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material while meeting company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. This role handles all warehouse transactions and maintains the branch warehouse environment and equipment. Note: This role is not permitted to make deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety Rules; immediately address safety concerns
- Receive material from vendors, customers, or other warehouses and verify quantity and description by checking merchandise against the packing list
- Keep incoming orders stocked on shelves in an orderly manner and report freight damage claims
- Prepare branch orders from the warehouse, ensuring the correct number and type of product is shipped
- Process paperwork regarding shipments, including verifying merchandise, applying correct postage and labels, following customer shipping instructions, and insuring shipments when necessary
- Operate machinery including forklift, reach truck, and wire cutting machine when required
- Load common carrier and company vehicles
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment
- Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
- May perform other job functions within a branch, including counter sales and customer support
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- No experience required; prior warehouse experience a plus
- Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- General knowledge of electrical products is a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers
- Ability to handle basic issues and problems
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately complete job tasks
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime as needed
- Basic computer knowledge
