Warehouse Assistant

About the role

The Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in Premier Service Company’s supply chain, managing stock levels, coordinating material movements, and ensuring timely delivery to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate stock levels in the warehouse
• Cook off materials from suppliers to the warehouse and to service trucks
• Transport materials between the warehouse and job sites using vehicles with trailers
• Operate vehicles with trailers, demonstrating confidence in backing and maneuvering in tight spaces
• Ensure job sites are supplied on time

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Proven warehouse or distribution center experience
• Valid Alabama DOT Medical Card (required prior to start date)
• Clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
• Demonstrated ability to operate a vehicle with a trailer, including backing and maneuvering in tight spaces
• Experience transporting materials to and from job sites, warehouses, and service vehicles
• Forklift certification or hands-on forklift operation experience
• Experience with material handling and warehouse software/databases
• Good computer skills and strong written and verbal communication

Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred
• Experience in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC environments preferred
• Proven track record implementing process improvement initiatives in a warehouse setting preferred

Skills

• Strong organizational and inventory management skills
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
• Confidence and proficiency in operating vehicles with trailers
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This role involves working in both shop and field environments. Candidates should be comfortable with exposure to loud noise and outdoor conditions, sustained physical activity including lifting (50+ lbs), bending, and kneeling, and maintaining alertness and focus in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
