About the role
Richmond Fire and Emergency Services is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as temporary, part-time Warehouse Technicians.
Responsibilities
- Issuing, receiving and tracking inventory
- Soliciting quotes from contractors and vendors for materials, tools, and supplies
- Aiding in purchasing
- Following up with vendors on purchase orders
- Receiving, locating, and distributing tools, materials, and supplies
- Initiating replenishment of materials through requisitions
- Assisting customers in selecting materials
- Performing data entry
- Operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment
- Following policies and procedures for safe storage of chemicals and other hazardous materials
- Assisting with special projects as assigned
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of any related experience
- Basic computer proficiency and moderate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel applications
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
- Licenses, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements: Valid forklift certification (preferred), valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
