About the role

Richmond Fire and Emergency Services is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as temporary, part-time Warehouse Technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Issuing, receiving and tracking inventory
  • Soliciting quotes from contractors and vendors for materials, tools, and supplies
  • Aiding in purchasing
  • Following up with vendors on purchase orders
  • Receiving, locating, and distributing tools, materials, and supplies
  • Initiating replenishment of materials through requisitions
  • Assisting customers in selecting materials
  • Performing data entry
  • Operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment
  • Following policies and procedures for safe storage of chemicals and other hazardous materials
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned

Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of any related experience
  • Basic computer proficiency and moderate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel applications
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements: Valid forklift certification (preferred), valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
