About the role

Locally-owned K-12 bookstore in Tempe (Priest and Southern) seeks warehouse workers for summer season and sales staff for the sales office. Air-conditioned warehouse positions involve grading, sorting, and shipping textbooks. Long-term employees have advancement opportunities into management, logistics, supply chain, sales, purchasing, and operations with generous wage increases.

Responsibilities

  • Grade and sort Kindergarten-12th grade textbooks
  • Input inventory into the database
  • Pick, pack, and ship books
  • Collect and sort books from local pickup locations
  • Assist with various aspects of the business as needed

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Able to follow moderately complex criteria while working efficiently
  • Type 40+ words per minute and computer savvy
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Not afraid to ask questions when appropriate
  • Able to handle a variety of parameters and procedures
  • Pass pre-employment math and drug tests
  • Some lifting of 20-30 pounds required (heavier lifting roles available)
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Positive attitude

For driver candidates: ability to pass a background check, receive an Arizona fingerprint clearance card, and have a clean MVR. Box truck or forklift driving experience preferred.

Schedule

  • Core hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Full-time summer positions: 40 hours/week (blackout on time off from May-September)
  • Flexible part-time hours during the school year (as few as 6 hours/week)
  • Overtime opportunities available, especially in summer
  • Start date: immediate or whenever available

Pay

  • Starting pay: $18.50/hour for warehouse roles, $23/hour for box truck drivers
  • Raises given with increased responsibility
  • Wage growth limited only by ability to take on more responsibility
