About the role
This role supports critical airport infrastructure including Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs), Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) units, 400 Hz aircraft ground power systems, pumps, fans, HVAC equipment, and related facility systems.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electromechanical systems supporting airport operations
- Maintain and repair Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs), gate equipment, PCA units, HVAC systems (RTUs, air handlers, compressors, fans), 400 Hz ground power systems, pumps, motors, sewage lift stations, dewatering systems, and glycol recovery systems
- Safely operate and troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480 VAC including motor controls, VFDs, and control circuits
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using schematics, manuals, and test equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications
- Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and basic fabrication as required
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and control documentation
- Respond to equipment failures impacting gate availability and airport operations
- Document work performed and corrective actions using a CMMS
- Communicate clearly with other shifts, supervisors, and airport stakeholders
- Follow all safety requirements including lockout/tagout, confined space, PPE, and airfield safety protocols
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial, airport, utility, or large facility environment
- Demonstrated experience in the safe operation and troubleshooting of electrical systems up to 480 VAC
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, motors, compressors, and rotating equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot basic control systems, motor starters, and VFDs
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- EPA 608 Type II or Universal certification preferred; training can be provided
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors as required
- Ability to pass airfield access background checks
