About the Role
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, monitor quality assurance standards, and embrace the Customer 1st strategy to deliver excellent customer service while demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items and suggestive sell through intercom announcements.
- Observe scheduled shift operating hours and adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
- Model excellent customer service, demonstrating friendliness, and maintaining a clean and orderly department.
- Monitor and maintain quality standards, product freshness, and safety through proper rotation, code dating, schematics, and pricing policies.
- Coordinate and organize merchandising of the department floor, including receiving and verifying vendor counts and prices.
- Condition all products in assigned sections in accordance with company policy and maintain records of inventory, quality assurance, and invoices.
- Ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, and associate and customer engagement rules.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of needed repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks, issues, or illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Current food handlers permit once employed.
- Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction.
Qualifications
- Retail experience (desired).
- High school diploma or equivalent (desired).
- Second language skills: speaking, reading, and/or writing (desired).
