Responsibilities
- Check floor plan for assigned station and side work.
- Greet all residents and guests; assist residents to table and help them fold walkers as needed.
- Distribute and collect menus; take meal orders, monitor residents’ dietary needs, and make menu suggestions accordingly.
- Assist in plating and portion control of appetizers, salads, soup, beverages, and desserts for residents and guests.
- Inspect meals before serving to ensure appetizing appearance and aroma.
- Serve meals and beverages accurately and promptly; monitor residents’ eating habits and report concerns to the Director of Wellness.
- Check back with tables to ensure satisfaction and address any additional needs.
- Anticipate residents' needs through cues and non-verbal communication; respond promptly to special requests and dietary preferences.
- Answer resident questions about food or escalate to the Chef on duty.
- Set and clear tables; maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
- Inspect table settings for cleanliness, replacing glassware or silverware as needed.
- Bus tables, scrape dishes, and transport soiled items to the wash area.
- Reset tables, including wiping vases, salt/pepper shakers, changing tablecloths, and cleaning chairs.
- Ensure condiments and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
- Provide excellent customer service, fostering a friendly and comfortable environment.
- Develop positive relationships with residents by addressing them by name and engaging in conversation.
- Familiarize yourself with the daily menu, including special diets and restrictions, to assist residents in making informed choices.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure accurate communication of orders and dietary requirements.
- Work cooperatively with team members to maintain smooth service and address issues promptly.
- Assist other employees with their assignments when available.
- Volunteer to fill open shifts as needed.
- Follow hygiene and safety protocols, including proper food handling, sanitation, and storage practices.
- Detect and address unpleasant odors or unsanitary conditions in the dining area.
- Clean and sanitize equipment such as coffee makers, beverage dispensers, refrigerators, freezers, bussing carts, and toasters.
- Maintain cleanliness in the service area by vacuuming, sweeping, and removing trash.
- Complete special assigned cleaning tasks based on periodic schedules.
- Engage with residents to foster a sense of community, address feedback, and promote social interaction during mealtimes.
- Support special events and celebrations by assisting with setup, decoration, and creating a festive atmosphere.
- Wear a proper and clean company uniform.
- Perform other duties or assist in other departments as assigned by supervisors.
