About the role
The Inventory Control Lead oversees and coordinates inventory management activities in stockrooms, warehouses, and yards. Key responsibilities include maintaining storage layouts, reviewing records for accuracy, scheduling inventories, preparing reports, resolving discrepancies, issuing instructions, and assigning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintains layout of stockroom, warehouse, and storage areas
- Studies records for non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock
- Reviews records for accuracy and compliance with procedures
- Determines adequacy of stock levels and schedules inventories
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports
- Traces item histories to resolve discrepancies and recommend actions
- Issue written and oral instructions, expedite workflows, and assign duties
- Examine work for exactness, neatness, and adherence to policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control
- Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environments
- Experience operating forklifts and cherry pickers/high lifts
- Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred)
- Knowledge of Inventory Control practices, KPI reporting, cycle count programs, product rotation
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpreting data
- Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
- Computer skills in Business Operating Systems, Internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software
Additional Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Writes reports and correspondence
- Physically counts articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets
- Utilizes computer terminal to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Works in various environments, including indoor offices and outdoor storage areas
- May require occasional travel to assist other facilities
