VPK Teacher
About the role
The Goddard School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This position will focus on implementing engaging lesson plans, creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and supporting students' social-emotional growth.
Responsibilities
- Implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans using the Wonder of Learning® curriculum while supporting VPK learning standards and Kindergarten readiness goals.
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain open, effective, and positive communication with families and guardians about their child’s progress and daily activities.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to uphold health and safety standards, licensing regulations, and ensure their well-being.
- Participate actively in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s learning and development to inform activities and share insights with families.
- Support Assistant Teachers and Resource Teachers, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Model and implement positive guidance strategies to support social-emotional growth and conflict resolution.
Requirements
- A high school diploma required; an associate's or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Florida VPK credential requirements must be met or in progress.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) certification is preferred.
- One to two years of previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
- Previous experience teaching VPK, Pre-K, or preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
- A strong understanding of Kindergarten readiness, early literacy, classroom routines, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children.
