We are seeking a leader to provide strategic and tactical medical leadership, deliver clinical and scientific leadership to development programs, and ensure the highest standards for safety and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Medical Officer and operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more Program teams across Clinical Development, Research, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, Technical Operations, Quality, and Commercial from Phase 1 through approval and launch; serve as the single point of accountability for the BTK Program Global Development Team (GDT)
  • Create and drive key program decisions through appropriate governance forums
  • As a member of the Clinical Executive Management Team, partner with stakeholders to set direction and execute against goals for a portfolio of clinical-stage therapies
  • Develop and communicate program plans and development plans in partnership with asset teams and program management
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and drive strategic and operational alignment with the Program team, functional leads, and Executive Management Team
  • Identify challenges and risks and prepare mitigations to navigate technical and program challenges
  • Develop or refine Clinical Development Plans (CDPs); act as or oversee clinical leads for protocols and supportive activities
  • Provide medical oversight for ongoing clinical trials, including regular review of clinical data to improve understanding of molecule profile (e.g., safety and activity)
  • Provide clinical oversight for Company operational staff and CROs in all areas related to therapeutic program execution
  • Provide or oversee training and ongoing input to clinical team members on medical and scientific issues in the therapeutic field
  • Provide medical support for regulatory discussions and activities (e.g., INDs, NDA/MAAs)
  • Interact with principal investigators and opinion leaders to facilitate clinical trials research
  • Refine or establish processes and methods for clinical protocol design, data collection systems, and final reports
  • Present data to executive leaders and internal/external medical colleagues in one-on-one or large group settings (50+)

Required Qualifications

  • MD, board certified preferably in hematology/oncology
  • At least 10 years of clinical trial experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated involvement in clinical trial design or execution, including Phase 3 planning and execution
  • Relevant clinical research experience in academic settings will be reviewed in light of clinical development experience
  • Excellent communicator with proven leadership skills and the ability to interact in a cross-functional environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based on changing priorities
  • Proven leadership experience leading high-performing teams and individuals
  • Hands-on leadership approach suited for a critical role
  • Experience working in a highly productive and high-achieving collaborative environment
