VP, Strategy - CenterWell
About the role
The Vice President, Strategy and Operations for CenterWell serves as a key member of the CenterWell Leadership Team (CWLT) and is responsible for helping shape and execute the long-term strategy, operating model, and performance agenda for CenterWell. Reporting directly to the President of CenterWell, this executive serves as a trusted strategic advisor, enterprise integrator, and execution leader, driving alignment across CenterWell's businesses to advance Humana's long-term aspirations.
Responsibilities
Partner with the President of CenterWell and CWLT to define, refine, and execute CenterWell's long-term strategic vision and multi-year growth agenda.
Lead the annual strategic planning process, translating enterprise priorities into actionable business strategies and measurable outcomes.
Identify emerging healthcare trends, disruptive market opportunities, and innovations that will shape the future of CenterWell.
Serve as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership and on matters related to growth, transformation, integration, and value creation.
Develop and execute strategy projects that relate to CW growth, enablement of key outcomes, and informing key strategic choices for audiences that include the Humana Board, Enterprise Leadership Team, and other senior audiences.
Own the continued evolution and maturation of CenterWell's operating model, ensuring organizational structure, governance, decision rights, capabilities, and accountability mechanisms support future growth and scalability.
Lead enterprise-wide efforts to simplify operations, eliminate fragmentation, and accelerate collaboration across Primary Care, Home Health, Pharmacy, enabling functions and future CenterWell businesses.
Drive integration initiatives that unlock synergies across CenterWell businesses and strengthen alignment with Humana's long-term strategy.
Establish and oversee CenterWell's execution management system, ensuring key strategic initiatives achieve intended outcomes and business results.
Monitor progress against strategic objectives, proactively identifying risks and removing barriers to execution.
Lead enterprise transformation initiatives, including highly visible cross-functional programs with significant operational, financial, clinical, and organizational impact.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and results orientation across the organization.
Collaborate the CWLT, Communications, and other key leaders to translate CW strategy into messaging that builds confidence in the future state vision and strategic positioning of CW.
Act as a member of the CenterWell Leadership Team, helping drive enterprise decisions, organizational effectiveness, and leadership alignment.
Lead development of strategic communications, Board materials, investor and executive presentations, and enterprise performance reviews.
Act as a key liaison between CenterWell, Humana enterprise leadership, and external stakeholders.
Support leadership team effectiveness, governance, and organizational health to ensure the CenterWell leadership team operates as a cohesive, high-performing executive team.
Lead CenterWell's enterprise clinical quality team, ensuring alignment of clinical quality strategies, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives across all lines of business.
Partner with clinical leaders to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, STARS performance, and total cost of care initiatives.
Requirements
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare strategy, operations, transformation, consulting, or provider services.
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide operating model design, organizational transformation, and strategy execution.
Deep understanding of value-based care, population health, clinical quality, healthcare services, and integrated delivery models.
Proven success influencing executive leaders and driving change within large, matrixed organizations.
Exceptional executive presence, strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and relationship-building capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications

Well-developed and broad knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, with a track record of identifying industry, market, and competitor trends
Proven ability to build high-performing teams by identifying, cultivating, and motivating top talent from inside and outside of the organization
Experience running portfolio management processes
A record of success in facilitating and managing multiple high-profile, high-impact strategy projects end to end, including allocation and management of resources, setting milestones/timing and scorecards, and holding others accountable
Strategic thought partnership and ability to learn the businesses, helping to shape multi-year strategies to support overall business growth
Ability to work through tumultuous or ambiguous scenarios successfully
Track record of delivering demonstrated value through strategic initiatives to support the enterprise
Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 150), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome
Current or recent experience in the healthcare industry or in a Corporate Development leadership role is desirable, but not required
Bachelor’s degree
Advanced degree (Masters preferred)
