Job Summary:The position is responsible for developing, marketing, and underwriting US Professional Lines Treaty business. While skillful underwriting is paramount, the candidate should also be a team player, willing to contribute to the broader goals of the team. As such, the candidate must possess effective communication and project management skills, working with both external and internal stakeholders, including clients, brokers, SCOR teams, claims, actuarial, legal, strategy, and senior management. The expectation is that the senior underwriter support training and development of less tenured underwriters. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable with open-ended challenges and can succinctly and confidently recommend solutions, understanding that the process is as important as the outcome. The candidate will be expected to assume client management responsibilities, which require strong communication skills and engagement across supporting functions and lines of business. This position will be based in a SCOR office, either Chicago or New York City, and the candidate is expected to be in office several days per week. Underwriting:Assess new and renewal professional liability treaty reinsurance programs; casualty lines may also be considered where the candidate has relevant experience.Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions that support SCOR appetiteEvaluate and negotiate contract wordingEvaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuarial supportPerform underwriting audits for current and potential clientsDiscuss underwriting and management issues with executives at primary insurance client companiesCollaborate with Client Managers to support overall client relationshipActively monitor market trends and engage in strategic discussions with internal and external parties.Actively contribute to internal projects.Support training and development of the broader teamAttend marketing visits to broker offices and establish marketing presenceIdentify clients that align with SCOR's appetite and are additive to the overall portfolioIdentify brokers that handle accounts that fit the SCOR underwriting targetsAttend industry conventions to promote SCORDevelop and maintain business relationshipsWork collaboratively with all internal parties to manage individual deals and overall client relationshipsDiligently maintain all documentation for assigned accounts as per SCOR guidelinesUnderstand and adhere to SCOR underwriting and pricing guidelines Required Experience & CompetenciesCandidates should have at least 5 to 7 years of prior reinsurance underwriting or reinsurance broking experience.Strong knowledge of Professional (re)insurance marketStrong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skillsWillingness to travel up to 25% of the time and dedicate a considerable amount of time to developing broker and client relationshipsPositive attitude and a willingness to contribute and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentStrong Microsoft office skills, particularly ExcelWorking knowledge of Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI is a plusAI knowledge and willingness to integrate into the underwriting approach is requiredWillingness to collaborate and mentor rising talent Required Education:College degree or equivalent experience required. Pay Range for roles performed in IL: $200,500-$271,500 NY: $218,000-$294,500 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives.
