About the Role
This role is responsible for managing, underwriting, and servicing a portfolio of primarily lower-complexity business clients, including deposit accounts and loans. You will increase client retention by building successful relationships, act as the primary banking contact, and identify appropriate banking solutions for lending, depository, or treasury management needs. All duties are performed in accordance with company policies, U.S. state and federal laws, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of primarily business clients; prepare a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client.
- Complete all required loan portfolio management, including reviews, renewals, modifications, risk rating certifications, and covenant compliance.
- Call on clients to discuss and promote all bank products and services to establish strong banking relationships.
- Build strong relationships with internal referral sources; identify business opportunities and solicit referrals of other bank products or external referrals from existing customers.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company, industry, business, and client needs to assist in servicing.
- Bring in product specialists as necessary to help problem-solve or structure transactions.
- Exercise sound credit and risk judgment in reviewing transactions; recommend approval of credits meeting the bank’s standards.
- Ensure the quality of all business introduced to the bank.
- Monitor portfolio for quality, risk, and adherence to policy; work with appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
- Prioritize workload and follow up with pending information in a timely manner.
- Work independently and take initiative to complete assigned duties on schedule.
- Manage all system updates in a timely and accurate manner.
- Follow policies and procedures; complete tasks correctly and on time; support the company’s goals and values.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in commercial and related forms of lending and portfolio products, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Previous experience in relationship management required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring, and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to:
- Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act)
- Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act)
- Fair Housing Act (FHA)
- Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
- Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
- Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP)
- Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal)
- Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
- Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; proficiency in mainframe systems, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
- Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations governing lending, including fair lending, privacy, RESPA, as well as company operational policies and products/services.
- Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, percentages, balance accounts, and perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Pay
The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
