About the Role

We are seeking a Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety to develop and execute organizational quality and performance improvement initiatives. This role provides leadership and organizational-wide direction in ensuring a continuously improving culture of safety at HCA Florida Blake Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and direct an organizational-wide risk management program to ensure compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., JCAHO, OSHA).
  • Develop and implement educational programs for employees, medical staff, and board members on risk assessment, historical and concurrent occurrence and claims data, and national trends.
  • Oversee the organizational-wide occurrence reporting system; analyze and report trends and identify appropriate interventions to reduce risk and liability.
  • Lead organizational performance efforts for JCAHO, core quality measures, Conditions of Participation (COP), and other regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO and all legal, regulatory, and accrediting agency requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Nursing or a Healthcare-related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse preferred.
  • If serving as the facility’s primary Risk Manager, a current Florida license in Healthcare Risk Management (FL LHRM) is required.
  • CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) or CHCQM (Diplomate in American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians) required. Individuals without CPHQ or ABQUARP will be granted a 12-month grace period to obtain certification if all other qualifications are met.
  • CPPS (Certified Professional in Patient Safety) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality, risk management, clinical, or administrative roles.
  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and TJC regulations.

About the Facility

HCA Florida Blake Hospital is a 380+ bed hospital located in Bradenton, FL, on a thirteen-acre campus near the Gulf Coast beaches. We are the only state-designated Level II trauma center in Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto Counties and have received verification by the American College of Surgeons. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, open-heart surgery, burn care, cancer care, joint replacement, and inpatient rehabilitation. The hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Gold Fit Friendly Designation and offers an onsite daycare program (Happy Cubs), a 24-hour employee fitness center, and a healthy work environment.
