VP of Finance - Private Company (Hybrid)

Location: Northern Virginia | Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote)

About the role

A well-established, privately held company in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to join its senior leadership team. This is a broad financial leadership opportunity that extends well beyond traditional accounting and reporting. The VP of Finance will have significant involvement across financial operations, cash flow and capital planning, banking, investments, real estate interests, and longer-term business strategy, while working closely with executive leadership on key financial and operational decisions. We're looking for a CPA with strong accounting and financial fundamentals who has grown into a broader leadership role and is comfortable operating across both the day-to-day financial needs of a business and its longer-term strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across accounting, finance, treasury, and financial reporting
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis
• Oversee financial reporting and planning across multiple entities and business interests
• Manage banking relationships, financing needs, and capital planning
• Provide financial analysis and oversight related to real estate, investments, and other business initiatives
• Partner with executive leadership on annual planning, long-term strategy, and key financial decisions
• Coordinate with external CPA, tax, legal, banking, and other professional advisors
• Evaluate financial processes, reporting, and controls and identify opportunities for continued improvement

Requirements

• Active CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior-level leadership responsibility
• Experience within a privately held or closely held business environment strongly preferred
• Strong background across financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, banking, and strategic planning
• Experience managing finances across multiple entities, business interests, or investment structures
• Exposure to commercial real estate, development, construction, or similar privately held operating businesses strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of tax strategy and experience working alongside external CPA and tax professionals
• Ability to work effectively with executive leadership, ownership, lenders, and outside professional advisors
• Strong financial and operational judgment with the ability to balance day-to-day leadership with longer-term strategic planning

Pay

$175,000 – $250,000+ base salary, depending on experience
