About the role
We're looking for a VP of Finance to lead the finance function at Jasper and serve as a strategic partner on the executive team. This is the senior-most finance role in the company, reporting directly to the CEO, and we need someone who shows up as a business leader first and a finance leader second. The right person for this role is strategy-heavy. You'll translate the CEO's vision into realistic financial and operating models, help chart the company's direction in a rapidly evolving AI market, and bring financial insight to every major decision.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, providing financial leadership that actively shapes company direction, resource allocation, and growth priorities.
- Translate the CEO's vision and strategic priorities into actionable financial and operating models that drive alignment across the business.
- Lead strategic planning, scenario analysis, and investment evaluation to support agile decision-making in a fast-moving AI market.
- Partner deeply with cross-functional executives on priorities, trade-offs, and performance accountability — earning trust as a go-to business partner, not just a finance function.
- Pricing, GTM & Monetization:
- Collaborate with Product and GTM leaders to shape pricing strategy, deal structuring, and monetization initiatives.
- Support Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success with financial targets, unit economics analysis, performance tracking, and KPI reviews.
- Bring financial rigor to commercial decisions without slowing the business.
- Fundraising, Board & Investor Support:
- Prepare and present board and investor materials that frame financial performance within the broader business narrative and strategic context.
- Support fundraising processes and due diligence as a key contributor; manage investor communications alongside the CEO.
- Build comfort operating in board-level conversations and stakeholder management.
- Finance Operations & Team:
- Own the full finance function end-to-end — FP&A, accounting, strategic finance, and financial operations.
- Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning, building and maintaining SaaS financial models.
- Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring GAAP compliance, timely and accurate monthly close, and strong internal controls.
- Manage and optimize financial systems and infrastructure (including NetSuite) to support scale and efficiency.
- Define, track, and communicate core SaaS metrics — ARR, NRR, churn, gross margin, cash flow, and LTV/CAC.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team; establish scalable processes that balance rigor with the speed a startup demands.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience across finance, FP&A, accounting, or financial operations, with meaningful time in high-growth B2B SaaS environments.
- Prior experience as a VP Finance, Senior Director of Finance, or equivalent — having owned or significantly shaped the finance function at a growth-stage technology company.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic business partner, not just a finance operator — with a track record of influencing decisions beyond the finance function.
- Strong foundation across FP&A and accounting with the ability to operate across the full finance stack.
- Experience supporting board reporting, investor communications, and fundraising processes.
- Hands-on experience with M&A – including target evaluation, financial due diligence, deal modeling, and post-acquisition integration planning.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills; deep Excel expertise.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite and modern finance tools.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, SaaS business models, subscription/usage-based revenue, and key operating metrics.
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial insights clearly and persuasively to executives, board members, and cross-functional partners.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing finance teams.
- High degree of ownership, a bias toward action, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred.
Benefits & Perks
- Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision coverage beginning on the first day for employees and their families.
- 401(k) program with up to 2% company matching.
- Equity grant participation.
- Flexible PTO with a FlexExperience budget ($900 annually) to help you make the most of your time away from work.
- FlexWellness program ($1,800 annually) to help support your personal health goals.
- Budget for home office set up.
- $1,500 annual learning and development stipend.
- 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
Pay
The expected base salary range offered for this role is $248,000 - $310,000. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications.
