About the role
The Vice President of Engineering will oversee the engineering team, providing technical direction to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality network products and services. They will participate in the evolution of technology and engineering strategy, collaborate with cross-functional teams, recruit top talent, own cross-team collaboration, maintain a hands-on engineering approach, and own the end-to-end deployment of the product.
Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering team, providing technical direction to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality network products and services.
- Participate in the evolution of technology and engineering strategy, and contribute to the overall direction of the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, operations, and marketing to define and execute the company's product roadmap.
- Recruit top talent to join the engineering team and create a positive, productive, and engaging work environment for the team.
- Own cross-team collaboration and ensure seamless integration of engineering work with other company areas.
- Maintain a hands-on engineering approach to provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to the team.
- Own the end-to-end deployment of the product: full ownership of CI/CD pipelines, release management, infrastructure, network integrations, and DevOps practices.
Requirements
- Strong domain knowledge in network engineering, device authentication (SIM/eSIM), mobile core functionality, and the Internet of Things (IoT)/telecommunications industry.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Expert knowledge of Java and Spring framework, with the ability to guide architectural decisions and mentor engineers on large-scale codebases.
- Working experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and AWS is highly preferred.
- Enthusiasm about promoting high quality standards across documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, and CI/CD.
- Proven experience owning product deployment pipelines end-to-end, including CI/CD, infrastructure management, and release engineering.
- A successful candidate must have previous early-stage product experience and has held a similar position in a Series B, or C and later stage private company.
- Experience in building and launching complex software systems.
- Have a passion for continuous improvement; have built learning organizations that keep up with industry innovations.
- Be responsible for delivering products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience leading teams that have adopted AI-assisted development tooling is a plus.
