About the role

Alpha is constructing a nationwide network of schools that use AI to condense a complete day of instruction into two intensive hours. For this model to succeed, the expansion process must match the precision of the educational product. This position was created to drive that execution. You will manage the complete lifecycle of new school sites—from initial acquisition through fully operational launch—and simultaneously engineer the systems that make every future opening faster, more reliable, and more efficient.

This is not a conventional development position. Your role is not simply to oversee projects. Your mandate is to remove barriers to expansion. That requires decisive judgment on site feasibility, direct engagement with permitting and construction challenges, vendor negotiations, and aggressive timeline management. Concurrently, you will decompose every element of this process into structured, AI-enabled workflows that minimize manual intervention and continuously improve forecasting precision.

Responsibilities

  • Validate site viability through structured and AI-supported analysis of zoning, permitting requirements, cost projections, and timeline constraints to inform critical location decisions
  • Manage multiple concurrent school construction projects, directing construction managers, clearing obstacles, and delivering on-time, on-budget campus openings
  • Produce clear, actionable capital project proposals that bring stakeholders into alignment on scope, budget, and delivery approach
  • Oversee vendor selection processes, RFP management, and contract negotiations with an emphasis on execution speed, quality standards, and cost discipline
  • Break down expansion processes into discrete operational units and construct AI-powered systems that accelerate delivery and enhance outcome predictability
  • Deliver end-to-end ownership of new school location expansion by producing fully operational campuses on consistent timelines, while systematically decreasing time-to-launch, capital expenditure, and execution risk through AI-enhanced operational systems

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Functioning as a passive coordinator who waits for status updates from contractors or external partners
  • Focusing narrowly on a single phase (such as site selection or construction alone) without accountability for the complete result
  • Depending on manual, improvised methods that must be reinvented for each new location
  • Delegating challenges upward without engaging directly to resolve permitting, design, or construction obstacles
  • Consuming extended timeframes to build stakeholder consensus without pushing toward definitive action

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading at least one complete real estate development or construction initiative from site identification through operational launch with full accountability
  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous builds or capital projects with direct ownership of scheduling, coordination, and problem resolution
  • Deep working knowledge of zoning regulations, permitting processes, construction execution, and vendor management, with capability to interface directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory officials
  • Demonstrated capacity to evaluate and decide on tradeoffs involving cost, schedule, and feasibility with quantifiable results
  • Experience refining or designing complex operational processes (such as permitting workflows, design coordination, or construction execution sequences)
  • Proven ability to decompose intricate workflows into structured, repeatable frameworks and enhance them iteratively
  • Track record of deploying tools (AI-based or otherwise) to eliminate manual tasks, speed up decision cycles, or improve execution velocity
  • Strong ownership orientation with ability to navigate uncertainty and produce tangible outcomes
  • Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to active construction sites throughout the US and be physically present during pivotal development and opening stages
  • Currently based in the US and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Experience scaling multi-location development or expansion initiatives
  • Demonstrated success in enhancing forecast precision and shortening project delivery cycles
